Artist's Statement  I believe in painting as a means of self-discovery. I have been attracted to different aspects (styles) of painting over the years. I have painted pop-funk figurative works, plein aire landscapes, still lifes and interiors, and extensive series ("The Runners Series" in the 1980's and "Abstract Formalist Series" since 2002). In teaching art to elementary school children for two decades, I developed an art curriculum rich in visual literacy and mathematics (symmetry, patterns, circle designs, etc.) that is undoubtedly influencing my studio work. |
